We left Amritsar and headed for Jammu Kashmir region. We drove on NH54 passing through Gurdaspur and Pathankot before taking NH44 to enter the state of Jammu Kashmir.

On the NH 44, just outside Jammu Town, heading north.
Jammu is situated at about 300m above sea level. From here we begin our gradual ascend before we reach Srinagar at 1,600m above sea level.

Udhampur
Back on NH44.

At Udhampur, we had our lunch of kashimiri pulao, mix veg, chicken kurma, omelette and roti.

Stone works at Pantha Chowk
This small town, about 10km south of Srinagar city, is known for carrying on the ancient practice of stone carvings. These limestones, called Devri Stones, are extracted and carved into tombstones as well as pestle and mortars by hand using simple tools.
